Elizabeth Jane Patterson Shadix Sligh, age 69, of Murphy, NC passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Valley View Care Center in Andrews, NC.

She was a native of Cherokee County, NC and the daughter of the late Rush Oliver and Ollie Anne Morrow Patterson. Elizabeth was a licensed Dietician and a care giver. She was the owner and operator of The Book Place (Bookstore) in Hayesville, NC. She had been the caregiver for Mrs. Vicie Rose.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jefferson Harding Sligh; one brother and two sisters.

She is survived by her son, Lawrence (Buddy) Oliver Shadix of Murphy, NC; one brother, Charles Patterson of Jacksonville, Florida; four grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Rev. Stewart Nichols will officiate and provide music. Burial will be in the New Martins Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 PM Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy, NC.
