Louisa S. Garrett, 89, of Hayesville passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at her residence. She was a native of Union County, Georgia, but had lived most of her life in Clay County. She was a homemaker and always enjoyed tending to her flowers, gardening, sewing, and quilting. Louisa loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was of the Baptist faith.

 

She was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Spiva Southerland and the wife of the late Paul Bennett Garrett, who died October 16, 1995.

 

Surviving are three daughters, Sandra Holbrooks of Blairsville, Georgia, Brenda Cherry and husband, J.C. of Hayesville, and Kathy Long and husband, Bob of Hayesville; four sons, Robert Garrett of Hayesville, Doug Garrett and wife, Geneva of Dawsonville, Georgia, Richard Garrett of Hayesville, and Larry Garrett of Hayesville; a brother, J.P. Southerland and Beulah Davis of Blairsville; 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 8, 2016 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with the Revs. Steve Cothren and Harold Ledford officiating. The interment will be in Oak View Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dwight and Steven Long, Doug Garrett Jr., Derrick Arrowood, Stephen Ledford, and James Norton. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Norton, Jimmy Watkins, and Mike Morgan.

 

The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville.
