Park in Murphy To Close 1 Hour Earlier During Winter

Konehete Park

MURPHY, N.C.- At the Cherokee County, NC, Board of Commissioners meeting on September 18, 2017, commissioners passed a motion shortening Konehete Park hours by one hour during the winter months.

The motion was made due to recent vandalism of park improvements, for instance, the bathrooms. Closing one hour earlier would allow police to ensure the park is vacated after dark.

The new earlier closing time would not affect special events and will be reviewed as spring approaches and it stays daylight later.
