Rose Anna Kent, age 92, of Sanford, North Carolina, formerly of Hayesville, died Saturday, August 8, 2015 in a Sanford, North Carolina hospital. She was a native of Astoria, New York, but lived in East Islip, New York before moving to Clay County in 1980 and later to Sanford in 2003. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Hayesville but attended the San-Lee Chapel in Sanford.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie Amato Merendino and the wife of the late Walter Nash Kent, who died February 5, 1994.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Rose Donaldson of Hayesville and Ann Marie Locklear of Sanford; a son, Walter Nash Kent Jr. of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; and six grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Wednesday, August 12 at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home, Sanford, North Carolina with Pastor Shane Wilson officiating.
