John Lawrence Pareti: Obituary

John Lawrence Pareti, 70, of Murphy passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2016 in an Asheville VA hospital. He was a native of Hackensack, New Jersey, but moved to Murphy in 2009. John served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. John was an active member of the Murphy American Legion Post 96 and the Warrior Clan. John was also a member of the Mount Liberty Baptist Church.

He was the son of the late John and Anne Betchley Pareti. He was also preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Honey and Jack Gore.

Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline L. “Jackie” Pareti; two daughters, Lorraine Hughes and husband, Richard of Greenville, South Carolina and Stephanie D’auria-Mekalet of Florida; a step-daughter, Dusty Cahill and Waylon Leohmann of Muskegon, Michigan; a brother, Gus Kitterle and wife, Joy of Florida; and five grandchildren and a great granddaughter.

No services are planned at this time.
