Catherine Sherrill: Obituary

Catherine Sherrill, age 87, of Andrews, passed away peacefully Friday, March 11, 2016 surrounded by her children in Andrews, NC.

A woman of devout Baptist faith, she was born on March 8, 1929 to the late Carl Carpenter and Bonnie Morgan Carpenter McClure and stepfather Elmon McClure of Andrews, and was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ray Sherrill who died May 21, 2003; son-in-law Kenneth Creasman; three brothers, Enloe Carpenter, Jade Carpenter, and Bobby (R.L.) McClure.

Mrs. Sherrill managed the Cato’s clothing store in Andrews and owned and operated Sherrill’s Laundromat in Andrews.  She had been a member of the Andrews Chapter #15 Order of Eastern Star for many years.

Surviving are two sons; Terry Sherrill and wife, Karen of Andrews and Scott Sherrill of Andrews; one daughter, Vickie Creasman and fiancé, Michael Payne of Andrews; two brothers, Randall McClure and wife, Virginia of Marble, NC and Tex McClure and wife, Jay of Andrews; a sister, Carolyn West and her husband, the late Gerald West of Andrews; and a very special cousin, Lenora McMahan of Andrews.

Mrs. Sherrill is survived by three grandsons; Kevin Creasman and wife, Theresa; Chad Sherrill and wife, Darla; and Chris Sherrill of Andrews.  Also surviving are two granddaughters, Kristel Sherrill Bryson and Brandi Creasman Watkins and husband, Keith, all of Andrews, along with seven great grandchildren; Sage Bryson, Kira Creasman, Morgan Postell, Ethan Sherrill, Kaleb Watkins, Kencade Watkins, and Noah Sherrill.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2016, at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with the Rev. Ron McClure officiating.  The interment was in Valleytown Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Kevin Creasman, Travis Sheperd, Carroll Hyde, Jamie West, Billy Carringer, and Sage Bryson.  Honorary pallbearers were Chad and Chris Sherrill, Kencade and Kaleb Watkins.

The family received friends from 1:30-2:45 p.m. Sunday prior to the service.
