Harold Eugene Norton, age 82 of Hayesville, NC passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Valley View Care Center in Andrews, NC.
He was born in Jackson County, NC to the late Frank and Wilma Smith Norton. Harold was a US veteran; he served in the Marine Corp in Korea. After retiring from the North Carolina Wildlife in Clay County as a Game Warden he continued to serve in firefighting until age 75. Harold spent his entire life serving others. He was a member of Truett Memorial Baptist Church in Hayesville, NC.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Norton.
He is survived by two daughters, Carol Kilpatrick and husband Dwayne of Lenoir City, TN and Donna Plemmons and husband Jeff of Murphy, NC; two brothers, Eddie Norton and wife Marion of Sylva, NC and Ray Faircloth and wife Debbie; and one sister, Virginia Grady and her husband Jim; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Friday, July 1, 2016 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Rev. Chris Rumfelt will officiate. Burial will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, July 2, 2016 in the Fairview Memorial Park in Sylva, NC.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 PM, Friday, July 1, 2016 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home.
