Mr. Thomas G. Dyer: Obituary

Thomas G. Dyer, age 71 of Hayesville, died Saturday, July 16, 2016 in Murphy Medical Center. He was a native of Clay County, but had lived in Spartanburg, South Carolina for several years before moving back to Clay County in 1960. Thomas retired in 2011 after thirty-one years of service in maintenance with Murphy Medical Center. He was a member of Little Brasstown Baptist Church. Thomas loved camping, going to Nascar races, and going to the beach.

He was the son of the late Thomas Carl and Katie Jo Lance Dyer.

Surviving are his wife of twenty-two years, Brenda Hancock Dyer; two daughters, Tammy Ledford and husband, Marvin of Hayesville. and Michelle Barnard and husband, Glenn of Young Harris, Georgia; one step daughter, Susan Ledford and husband, Tim of Hayesville; a step son Larry Barton of Marble; a sister, Kathy Dyer of Brasstown; a brother, Charles Dyer of Hayesville; ten grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with Rev. Aud Brown officiating. The interment was in Sweetwater United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Eddie Osborn, Eddie McDonald, Taylor Osborn, Jon Rickett, Logan Rickett, and Brandon Davis. Honorary pallbearers were Murphy Medical Center Maintenance Department.

The family received friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville.

Family requests memorials be made to the Little Brasstown Baptist Church, PO Box 12, Brasstown, NC 28902.

Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville in charge of all arrangements.
