Melissa Southards: Obituary

Melissa Southards, age 43, of Andrews, NC passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016 at her residence.

She was born in Towns County, GA but lived her whole life in Cherokee County. Melissa was the daughter of the late Carl Falls, Jr and Clara Gibby DeFoor of Ellijay, GA. She was a homemaker. Melissa loved spending time with her children and grandkids. She enjoyed painting and her dog (Little Man).

In addition to her father she was preceded in death by two sisters, Carlene Falls Derreberry, Darlene Falls and a grandson, Dawson Wooten.

In addition to her mother she is survived by her children, Richard (Rick) Gilbert, Jr and wife Heather, Tiffany Wooten and husband Paul and Samantha Smith and husband Dustin; sisters, Patricia Kindel and husband Jim and Renee Blalock and husband Wayne; nine grandchildren, Maddison Gilbert, Alyssa Gilbert, Payteon Gilbert, Maxson Gilbert, Austin Moody, Aubrey Flowers, Alexis Flowers, Kyleigh Wooten and Nevaeh Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews. Rev. Bo Phillips and Clara Gibby DeFoor will officiate. Burial will be in the Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky Conlet, Tim Taylor, Jim Kindle, Chris Teague, Eddie Conley, Jeremy Curlee and Ricky Gilbert, Sr.

The family will receive friends from 12-2 PM, Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews, NC.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to help the family with expenses.

Townson-Rose Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
