Loretta McClure Owenby: Obituary

Loretta McClure Owenby, 71, of Murphy passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016 in an Atlanta, Georgia hospital. She was a native of Clay County, but had been living in Murphy since 1979. Loretta was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

She was the daughter of the late William Samuel and Cordie Ellen Dailey McClure and the wife of the late William “Bill” Coy Owenby, who died June 30, 1993.

Surviving are a daughter, Angela Owenby of Murphy; a son, Eddie Owenby and wife, Heather of Murphy; and two granddaughters, Angela “Tootie” Rowland Owenby and Rebecca Owenby.

Graveside services were held at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the Hayesville Baptist/Presbyterian Cemetery with the Rev. Kyle Cody officiating. Pallbearers were Donald, Stacy, and Casey Roberson, Daniel Beavers, and Chico Cameron.

The family requests memorials be made in memory of Loretta McClure Owenby to the Hayesville Baptist/Presbyterian Cemetery, 162 North Meadow Drive, Hayesville, NC 28904.
