Mrs. Fannie Mae Chastain Gunter: Obituary

Fannie Mae Chastain Gunter, 86, of Andrews passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016 in a Chattanooga, Tennessee hospital. She was a native of Hiawassee, Georgia but lived in Andrews since 1976. She was a dedicated wife and mother. She enjoyed cooking for her family and gardening. She was a member of Valley River Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Martha Berry Chastain, and the wife of the late Robert Lee Gunter, who died August 25, 2009. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Flo Gribble; and four brothers, Henry, Terrell, James, and Joe Chastain.

Surviving are a daughter, Kathy Green and husband, Tommy of Brasstown; a son, R.L. Gunter of Murphy; a sister, Ada Bryson of Cullowhee, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Vane Gunter, Ashley Gunter, Kristy Green, and Kurtis Green; four great grandchildren, Kinsley Gunter, Trace Allison, Jonah Fahrman, and Tanner Rogers.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 23, 2016 in Valley River Baptist Church with the Revs. Aud Brown and Larry Bryson officiating. The interment was in Enotah Cemetery in Hiawassee, Georgia. Pallbearers were Vane Gunter, Brandon Bryant, Terry Chastain, Robin Gunnels, Trace Allison, and David Nicholson.

The family received friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews where the body was until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services.
