Mrs. Sandra Kay Peterson: Obituary

Mrs. Sandra Kay Peterson, age 75 of Murphy, NC, passed away peacefully on Friday December 23, 2016 following an extended illness. Sande was born on April 15, 1941 in Grand Rapids, MI., the daughter of the late Charles Patrick and the late Kathleen Poch Patrick. Before becoming ill, she was a Realtor with Remax Realty in Blairsville for over eleven years, and had served in the realty profession for over twenty years. Sande was a professional Clown in her younger days and loved to make people laugh. She was known as a prankster to her friends, family and co-workers. She was a huge animal lover, especially her two dogs Cookie and Candy. Sande was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter and son-in-law, Amanda Ahrendsen and Dale Ahrendsen, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gerald and Marie Peterson. Sande attended World Harvest Church.

Surviving Sande are her loving husband and best friend of forty-six years, Gary Peterson of Murphy, two daughters and one son-in-law, Lorrie Ahrendsen of Port St. Lucie, FL., Kelly and Ross Coker of Murphy, one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Dianna Peterson of Murphy, ten grandchildren, Elise Coffey, Jonathon and Jay Ahrendsen, Josh, Justin, Joe and Cassie Coker, Courtney, Andrew, Daniel and Addison Peterson, three great-grandchildren, Abby and Katelyn Coffey and Hawkins Coker, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A Celebration of Sande’s life will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 6:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Garry Patrick officiating. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home that Saturday evening from 3-6:00 pm. Special music will be presented by Mindy Combs. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in Sande’s memory.
