Mr. James “Red” Henson: Obituary

Mr. James “Red” Henson, age 80 of Murphy, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at his home. Mr. Henson was born January 23, 1937 in Murphy, NC to the late Edgar Henson and the late Ellar Bryson Henson. A member of New Liberty Baptist Church, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene Henson, two sons, Michael Henson and William Henson and brothers and sisters, Louise, Lucille, Harley, Douglas and Opal. He worked for General Motors for many years and enjoyed fishing and being outdoors.

Survivors include: wife, Ruth Henson, son, James Henson, daughter, Laura Henson, sister, Betty Jane Griffin, five step-children, fifteen step-grandchildren, several step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 10, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenny Housley officiating. Music provided by family members. Interment will follow in the New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include Tommy Delany, Bo Cole, Rex Taylor, Greg Shields, Mike Kirkland and Mario Paredes.

The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home, Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
