Illinois Governor, Bruce Rauner Vetos Budget then Speaker, Michael Madigan, Leads Veto Override

Illinois budget raises income and corporate tax rates. Madigan has been Illinios Speaker of the house with the exception of two years since 1983. Madigan’s step-daughter, Lisa Madigan is Illinois Attorney General. These two Democrats have very close ties to every union in the state along with being able to pick almost every judge in the state.
