Edna Mae Cross: Obituary

Edna Mae Cross, 78, of Sylva, formerly of Topton, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018 in a Sylva care facility. She was a native of Cherokee County, where she had lived most of her life before moving to Sylva in 2010. Edna retired from Baker Furniture and was a member of Red Marble Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Hill and Mae Jones Dockery and the wife of the late Charles Donald Cross, who died July 9, 2010.

Surviving are a son, Chuck Cross and wife, Kathy of Sylva; a sister, Mary Ellen Mehaffey of Robbinsville; three brothers, Boyd Dockery of Topton, Dean Dockery and wife, Sandra of Marble, and Carroll Dockery of Mooresville, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2018 in the Red Marble Baptist Church with the Revs. Mickey Stewart and Tim Dockery officiating. The interment will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scott, Bobby, Darrell, and Chris Dockery, Jerry Campbell, and Allen Raper. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Yonce, Larry Dailey, Harold Coggins, and Jeff Darnell.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews where the body will be until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services.

The family requests memorials be made in memory of Edna Mae Cross to the Red Marble Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Martha Postell, 1201 Red Marble Road, Andrews, NC 28901.
