Lawson Johnson, 74, of Andrews passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018 in an Andrews care facility. He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County. Lawson enjoyed fishing, watching western movies, guitars, music, and singing. He was a member of Cullowhee Baptist Church in Cullowhee, North Carolina and attended Hiawassee Baptist Church.
He was the son of the late Ray and Alice Allen Johnson. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda Johnson and Marva Matoy; and two brothers, Sidney and Walter Johnson.
Surviving are three sisters, Olah Gilreath of Murphy, Opal McHan of Howell, Michigan, and Evelyn J. Morrow and husband, Ron of Poquoson, Virginia; a brother, Bill Johnson and wife, Pam of Murphy; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2018 at Hiawassee Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Eddis Dockery officiating. Pallbearers were Curtis Gilreath, Chris Johnson, Kasey and Caden LeFevers, Danny Woody, and Sam Davis. James Johnson served as honorary pallbearer.
The family received friends from 6-8 Thursday evening in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
