Catherine Whitaker: Obituary

Catherine Whitaker, age 74 of Andrews, NC passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018 at her residence.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, NC and the daughter of the late Grady and Lula Guffey Brackett. Catherine was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy Carter; her sisters, Margaret Gladden, Enda Conley, Iva Conley and Eva Whitaker; and brothers, Dee Brackett and Ray Bracket.

She is survived by two daughters, Wanda Underwood and Janice Whiter; two sons, Jack Whitaker and Arnold Crawford; two sisters, Lucille Burchfield and Faye Stewart; a brother Neil Brackett; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm, Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews. Rev. Bo Phillips and Rev. Patrick O’Dell will officiate. Burial will be in the Old Mother Cemetery in Robbinsville, NC. Pallbearers will be Corey Underwood, Mikey Laney, Jacob Whitaker, Edwin Flowers, Eddie Conley and Harry Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Taylor, Tim Taylor and Ricky Conley.

The family will receive friends from 12-1 pm, Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the Townson-Rose Chapel.
