MURPHY, NC – An armed robbery occurred in the early hours of Friday, Nov. 1, at the Waffle House in Murphy.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, a lone male entered the Waffle House just after 5 a.m. Friday morning.
The man was wearing a black mask and was carrying an unspecified handgun.
The man demanded money from the register. The Waffle House staff members on duty complied, giving the man an undisclosed amount of money from the register.
The man then went into the back of the restaurant where he exited. He may have fled into the woods behind the restaurant, according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office is asking for any information regarding the armed robbery.
