Murphy, NC— Sheriff Derrick Palmer announced the June 9, 2021 arrest of 42-year-old Jeremy Lee Golden, of Murphy, North Carolina for charges stemming from a February 2021 arson investigation.
On February 14, 2021, a structure fire was reported on Marrestop Road, in Cherokee County North Carolina. The origin of the fire appeared suspicious in nature and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation. During that investigation, Jeremy Golden was identified as a suspect in the burning of the residence.
Golden was charged with Second Degree Arson and is currently on a $10,000.00 secure bond. Golden is currently incarcerated in the Cherokee County Detention Center awaiting a July 01, 2021, at 9 am Cherokee County District Court date.
Sheriff Derrick Palmer stated “Good work in this case and know that we are continuing to investigate other suspicious fires in Cherokee County.
