The Cherokee County Sheriffs Office with assistance from the NC State Bureau of Investigations is currently investigating a suspicious death at the 1300 block of Old Culberson Road.
At approximately 9:30 pm on January 11, 2022 a deceased female was found at her residence by family members. The Cherokee County Sheriffs Office Patrol Division responded to the residence and found that the deceased did not appear to be of natural causes and initiated a homicide investigation. Detectives of the Cherokee County Criminal Investigative Division responded to the scene and requested assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations.
It was determined that the deceased vehicle was also missing from the residence. The Cherokee County Sheriffs Office Patrol Division located the vehicle in a wooded area in the Bellview Community. The vehicle has been impounded and is currently being processed for latent fingerprint and DNA evidence.
At this time, even though the name of the deceased is known to Law Enforcement, it is not being released for respect of family that may have not yet been notified. A future press release is expected with additional information.
