(Hiawasse, GA) – – Polk County Wildcat point guard Callie Brewer is rolling past the 1000 point mark in her basketball career as she helped lead the team to a 65-to-35- win over the Murphy Bulldogs. Both teams worked diligently to warm up shooting in the tournament’s opening game with Murphy hitting less than 20% of its shots from the floor and Polk County knocking down slightly more than 30%. Big things were boxed inside the small shooting percentage package for the Panthers as Callie Brewer, from Day 1, continued to show fans her hot-hand 3-point shooting with five 3-Pointers to build the lead. Brewer led all scorers finishing the game with 29 points. Murphy’s Addie Johnson led the Bulldogs with 14 points.

Turnovers plagued the Bulldogs to give the Wildcats more opportunity and the scoring edge. Murphy had to work extra to break a strong full-court man-to-man press for its shots. At the halftime break, Polk County led 33-to-16. Polk County widened the gap in the third period by outscoring Murphy 13-to-5 by its first timeout at the 4:00 mark.
