Robbinsville is well represented at the Western Regional 1-A Tournament and brings about a sense of pride to its coaches. Standing in as the Black Knight Head Coach, Jeremy Brown, father to Isaiah Brown, said, “The fact we don’t have any golf course near us in Robbinsville and we borrow everything we need to play golf, it is amazing we have our team here (at Regional Tournament).” As a team Robbinsville placed seventh among the team play at the tournament with a 407 score. Isaiah Brown shot 80 with Trey Lambert carding 105, Isaac Collins 109, Turner Jackson 113, and Xander Wachacha 120.

Cherokee Braves
This is the first year since the COVID-19 pandemic for the Cherokee Braves bringing a team to the regional tournament. Prior to the pandemic, the Braves had a steady stream of strong talent going through the tournament, with Holden Straughan going to the state tournament in 2018. Braves Coach Carr Crowe said, “We are proud of our team coming back to the regionals and how they played this season. This is a good start to getting our team back to where we want it.” Colin Ledford led the Braves with a 105 followed by Denili Hill at 109. Tsisqua Hill carded 114; Dante Taylor finished 116; and Coby Willis ended with a 120.
Smoky Mountain Teams
Not all Smoky Mountain Conference schools brought a five-man team to the tournament. Swain County’s Skeet Cook Finished with a 107. Hayesville’s Seth Hedden finished at 95 and Conner Pullum carded 112.
The Western 1-A Regional Tournament
Lincoln Country Club is not one of the easiest courses to negotiate. Most golfers had trouble with the front nine and came away with a score in the 40’s. They made up traction in the back nine, which seemed more level and playable. Mitchell County finished as a team and with an individual play in first place. Mitchell’s Connor Warren finished best among all golfers at 72. Mitchell as a team took first place with a score of 327. Other schools with a full five-man team finished as follows:
