The Robbinsville Lady Knights beat Murphy 5-4 on Friday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the sixth when Naomi Taylor hit a solo home run to center field.
Murphy got on the board in the top of the third inning after Julia Dockery drew a walk, scoring one run, and Paisley Johnson singled, scoring two runs.
Robbinsville captured the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the fourth when Presley Caylor doubled, scoring one run, Ella Atwell doubled, scoring one run, and Lexie Williams singled, scoring two runs.
Murphy would later go on to score via error to tie the game at four in the top of the fifth.
Naomi Taylor earned the win for Robbinsville. The righty surrendered five hits and four runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out four and walking four. Paisley Johnson took the loss for Murphy. The starting pitcher went six innings, giving up five runs (three earned) on six hits, striking out five and walking one.
Lexie Williams led the Lady Knights with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Suri Watty led Robbinsville with two hits in three at-bats.
For the Dogs, Paisley Johnson went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Emma Laney went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Murphy in hits.
Robbinsville will travel to Swain County for their next game on Tuesday, while Murphy is off this week due to spring break.
