Mr. Charles “Champ” Wimpey Jr. : Obituary

Charles “Champ” Wimpey Jr., age 77, of Warne, NC passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Erlanger Medical Center.

He was a native of Hamilton County, OH and was the son of the late Charles Wimpey Sr. and Ruby Hall Wimpey. Charles was a US Navy veteran. He was a retired mechanic in the trucking industry. Charles was a member of the Hayesville First United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Helga Crawford.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Santha Lynn Wimpey; one son, Charles “Chuck” Wimpey III and wife Heidi of Idaho Falls, Idaho; one daughter Rebecca Ganley and husband Mike of Hayesville, NC; one brother, Kim Wimpey and Donna of San Diego, CA; one sister, Sharon Thurman and husband Bill of Hayesville, NC; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Graveside Services will be held at 1 PM, Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Hayesville First United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pastor Kirk Hatherly will officiate.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311 or to the Clay County Food Pantry, 2278 Hinton Center Road, Hayesville, NC 28904.
