Murphy, NC- The Bulldogs showed their offensive firepower in Tuesdays matchup against Hayesville, scoring 15 runs in just 6 innings and sending the Yellow Jackets home early.

Briggs Cornwell allowed just 3 hits on the mound for the Dogs over 5.2 innings while striking out 8 Hayesville batters. Cole Laney came on in relief and recorded the final out of the 5th inning.

Hayesville jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, but that wouldn’t last long as Briggs Cornwell hit a 2 run bomb to center, scoring himself and Joe Swain.

Cornwell wasn’t the only Bulldog to take Hayesville deep however, as Joe Swain had an incredible night at the plate- going 3-3 with 2 doubles and a homerun.

Cornwell, Braden Rumfelt, John Ledford, Isaac Cole, and Will Carringer all were also credited with extra-base hits on the night.

The Bulldogs will look to tie up their share of a Smoky Mountain Conference Title with another victory over Hayesville on Thursday evening. If you can’t make it to Clay County, Thursdays game between the Bulldogs and the Jackets will be live on FYNTV.com starting at 4:00pm.
