PRESS RELEASE – We are thrilled to announce and welcome Emily Sneed as the new Principal of Hiwassee Dam Middle School!

Superintendent Dr. Keevin Woody and the Cherokee County Board of Education are excited to have Emily join our team and lead Hiwassee Dam Middle School into an exciting new chapter.

**Career Overview**

Emily Sneed began her educational career with Cherokee County Schools in 2012 as a teacher at Andrews Elementary School, where she dedicated herself to elementary education and student success. Most recently, she has spent the past two years serving at Ranger Elementary, further developing her instructional leadership and commitment to academic excellence.

Throughout her tenure in Cherokee County Schools, Emily has demonstrated a passion for creating positive learning environments and building strong relationships with students, families, and staff.

**Personal Life**

Emily is a proud native of Cherokee County and a 2008 graduate of Andrews High School. Her deep roots in the community reflect her genuine commitment to the students and families she serves.

Emily has been happily married for 17 years and is the proud mother of three daughters. When she isn’t working with students and staff, she enjoys traveling with her family and cherishing quality time together. Her devotion to family mirrors her dedication to creating a school environment where every student feels supported and valued.

**Education**

Emily Sneed holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Western Carolina University (2011) and a Master’s degree in School Administration from Western Carolina University (2025).

Throughout her career in Cherokee County Schools, Emily has demonstrated unwavering dedication to student success and instructional excellence. Her commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth—evidenced by her recent completion of her Master’s degree—positions her perfectly to lead Hiwassee Dam Middle School forward.

Emily is eager to foster a culture of excellence, safety, and school spirit at Hiwassee Dam Middle School. As she steps into this leadership role, her vision is clear: “I am incredibly honored to join the Hiwassee Dam Eagles.
