Lucille Marcus, age 94 of the Owl Creek Community in Murphy, NC passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Murphy Medical Center.

She was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado and the daughter of the late Charlie and Corda Duckworth Sexton. After her husband’s retirement in 1970 they moved to this area. Lucille was a former member of the Hanging Dog Community Club. She was a member of Owl Creek Baptist Church of which her father was the founder.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clinton Marcus; one son, Neil Marcus; one brother, Clarence Sexton; and three sisters, Lola Hass, Florence Henson and Emily Hass.

She is survived by one son, Phillip Marcus of Murphy; two daughters, Ann Pirtle of San Antonio, TX and Susan Fowler of Murphy, NC; five grandchildren, Keith Marcus, Kurt Marcus, Brian Stuhl, Marcus Mauney and Ashley Dixon and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Sunday April 3, 2016 Owl Creek Baptist Church. Pastor Randy Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenny Henson, Danny Henson, Kenneth Dockery, David Ott, Neal Kephart and Gene Kephart.

The family will receive friends at 12:30-2 PM, Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Owl Creek Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Owl Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 2550 Owl Creek Road, Murphy, NC 28906.
