Guendola Rebecca Payne, age 86, of Deerbrook Drive, Hayesville and formerly of Blairsville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 in the Murphy Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mrs. Payne was born on March 1, 1930 in Hayesville. She was the daughter of the late Merle Randall Bracken and the late Lula Mease Bracken. Guendola cherished her family and many friends. She was a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Payne was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death her husband, John Payne; a son, Michael Norris; brother, Bill Bracken; two sisters, Wanda White and Bobbie Neal.

Surviving Mrs. Payne are two daughters, Carol Moss of Hayesville, and Christine Weaver of Vidor, TX; one brother, Wallace Bracken of Blairsville, GA; four grandchildren, Timmy Burge, Lee Moss, Billy Moss and Shea Chastain; 12 great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 6 PM, Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville. Rev. Tully Griggs will officiate. The family will meet with friends following the services at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Hayesville Baptist-Presbyterian Cemetery.
