Edison E. Roberts, 86, of Murphy passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 in a Murphy care facility. He was a native of Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, but later moved to South Florida. Ed moved to Murphy in 1989. He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II and the Korean War. He also worked as a police officer while in Florida. Ed was a superintendent of masonry construction. He was a member of the American Legion Post 96. Ed was a member of the Harris Chapel Church of God.

He was the son of the late George Mozart and Fern Richey Roberts. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Gordon Roberts; and a grandson, Christopher Waddell; and a sister.

Surviving are two daughters, Debra Johnson and husband, Ricky of Murphy, and Barbara Carr and husband, Dale of Columbus, Ohio; a son, Edison E. Roberts Jr. and wife, Penny of Columbus, Ohio; a step-daughter, Mary Hardy and husband, Don of Ayden, North Carolina; a brother, Paul Roberts of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; and four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Edison E. Roberts to the Harris Chapel Church of God, 6 Harris Chapel Road, Murphy, NC 28906.
