Lester Danner, age 89, of Hayesville, NC passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016 in Clay County Care Center.

He was born in Jefferson County, Illinois and was the son of the late Bob and Lottie Lowery Hornbeck. Lester was a US Navy retired veteran. He was a Shriner, Mason and a member of the American Legion Post #532. Lester was an avid collector and loved his cats, Goldie, Sox and Ivan.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Mae Brown Danner; brother-in-law’s, Ralph Brown and wife Lillian, E.L. Brown and wife Belle and his sister-in-law’s husbands, W.A. Henson and George Lee.

He is survived by his brother-in-law, Arnold Brown and wife Joann; sister-in-law’s, Dorothy Lee and Estelle Henson; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the Townson Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville. Pastor Greg Carroll and Rev. Arnold Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with military honors being conducted by the V.F.W. Post #10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post #96 and D.A.V. Chapter #73 and American Legion Post #532 of Hayesville and V.F.W. Post #6812 Hayesville. Honorary pallbearers will be his special friends.

The family will receive friends from 12-2 PM, Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville, NC.
