TEXT MESSAGES HELP CATCH BREAKING AND ENTERING SUSPECT

Murphy, NC— Sheriff Derrick Palmer announced the November 02nd , 2016 arrest of 29 year old Travis Wyatt Beaver, of Blairsville Georgia, for charges stemming from a May 01st , 2016 breaking and entering in Cherokee County North Carolina. On October 31st, 2016 the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the owner of a residence in the Hothouse Community of Cherokee County stating that a part year residence that he owned had been broken into. During the investigation text messages were located that indicated that the individual who had broken into the residence wanted to rent the residence. Arrangements were made to meet and upon Beaver’s arrival at the residence he was arrested and taken to the Cherokee County Detention Center.

Beaver was charged with SECOND DEGREE BURGLARY, INJURY TO PERSONAL PROPERTY and is currently free after posting a $10,000.00 secure bond. Sheriff Palmer remarked “Again, great team work by two of our officers and the victim. Detective White and Deputy Spradlin made contact early in the investigation which helped bring a quick arrest in this crime.” Sheriff Palmer encourages any one that has information on this crime or any other to report it. TRAFFIC STOP NETS DRUGS AND 3 ARRESTS

Murphy, NC— Sheriff Derrick Palmer announced the October 25th, 2016 arrest of 29 year old Jordan Donavan Hall, 24 year old Shalees Marie Greenlee and 24 year old David Cody Roberts of Murphy North Carolina for violations of the controlled substance laws. Deputies and Detectives were conducting operations in an area that has been known to be frequented by individuals who are known violators of the controlled substance laws of North Carolina. During that operation information was obtained that Hall, Greenlee and Roberts were in leaving a residence and were possibly in possession of illegal controlled substances.

During the investigative traffic stop to continue the investigation a large amount of black tar Heroin along with a handgun which the serial number had been filed off was found during a consent search. Jordan Hall was arrested and taken to the Cherokee County Detention Center where he was charged with Possession with the Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Deliver Schedule I Controlled Substance, Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling, Felony Possession of Schedule I Controlled Substance, Carrying a Concealed Gun, Alter/Remove Gun Serial Number. Jordan Hall was released after making a $20,000.00 secure bond. David Cody Roberts was arrested and taken to the Cherokee County Detention Center where he was charged with Possession with the Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Deliver Schedule I Controlled Substance, Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling, Felony Possession of Schedule I Controlled Substance, Carrying a Concealed Gun, Alter/Remove Gun Serial Number, Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon. David Cody Roberts is currently free on a $15,000.00 unsecured bond. Shalees Greenlee was arrested and taken to the Cherokee County Detention Center where she was charged with Possession of Schedule I Controlled Substance, Possession with the Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Deliver Schedule I Controlled Substance. Shalees Greenlee is currently free on a $10,000.00 unsecured bond. Sheriff Palmer remarked “Good old fashioned police work involved here. CHASE NETS DRUGS AND 2 ARRESTS
Murphy, NC— Sheriff Derrick Palmer announced the November 03rd , 2016 arrest of 29 year old Lee Roy Chumley, of Jasper Georgia and 29 year old Teresa Marie Loudermilk of Mineral Bluff Georgia for charges stemming from a chase and violations of the controlled substance laws for North Carolina.  While working operations to investigate individuals who are frequenting residences in  Cherokee County known to be used for the illegal sale and delivery of illegal controlled  substances a vehicle was observed at one of those residences in the Hanging Dog Community of Cherokee County North Carolina. Once the vehicle left a Patrol Sergeant began following the  vehicle to initiate an investigatory stop on the vehicle. After observing a violation by the driver  of the vehicle the Sergeant attempted to stop the vehicle at which time the vehicle fled in an  attempt to evade the Sergeant. After a short vehicle chase, the vehicle stopped and both the  driver and the passenger attempted to escape in a wooded area. Additional Deputies, Detectives  of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office along with members of the Murphy Police Department  arrived and assisted in the capture of Chumley and Loudermilk.

During a search of the vehicle a  sizeable quantity of methamphetamine was found.  Chumley was arrested and taken to the Cherokee County Detention Center where he was charged with POSS W/I MANUF/SELL/DEL SCHEDULE II CONTROLLED  SUBSTANCE  DRIVE, POSSESS DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, FLEE/ELUDE ARREST WITH A MOTOR VEHICLE, RESISTING PUBLIC OFFICER, ALLOW MV NO REGISTRATION, FAIL STOP STOPSIGN FLSH RED LIGHT, RECKLESS DRIVING TO ENDANGER, OPERATE VEH  NO INS, NO OPERATERS LICENSE. Chumley is currently being held in the Cherokee County  Detention Center under a $21,000.00 secure bond.
Loudermilk was arrested and taken to the Cherokee County Detention Center where she  was charged with POSSESS SCHEDULE II CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, RESISTING  PUBLIC OFFICER, EXTRADITION/FUGITIVE OTHER STATE, POSSESS DRUG  PARAPHERNALIA. Loudermilk is currently being held in the Cherokee County Detention Center under a $20,000.00 secure bond. Sheriff Palmer remarked “Thanks to the attentiveness of Sergeant Cody Williams we took more drugs off the street. We are thankful for the assistance of Murphy Police Department
and also that the chase was contained to a smaller area so not to endanger the community further.  Hopefully we are sending a statement to those who want to deal drugs in Cherokee County that  we are watching and going after them!”  Sheriff Palmer encourages any one that has information on this crime or any other to report it.
