Murphy, NC— Sheriff Derrick Palmer announced the December 01st , 2016 arrest of 67 year old Brian Robert Redmond, and 36 year old Ryan Richard Vorda both of Cuming Georgia for charges involving the trafficking of Methamphetamine and possession of other controlled substances. Narcotic Investigators with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office worked in conjunction with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the North Carolina Highway Patrol following information that Redmond and Vorda had made several trips to Cherokee County for the purpose of delivering controlled substances. During the investigation a stop was made on the vehicle occupied by Redmond and Vorda. During the investigative stop a large quantity of suspected Methamphetamine, Ecstasy, Heroine, and Cocaine along with items that are used in the illegal distribution of controlled substances were seized. Redmond was arrested and brought to the Cherokee County Detention Center where he was charged with: POSSESS METHAMPHETAMINE, MAINTAIN PLACE CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE. Redmond is currently on a $2,500.00 secure bond. Vorda was arrested and brought to the Cherokee County Detention Center where he was charged with: TRAFFIC IN METHAMPHETAMINE, MAINTAIN PLACE CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, POSS W/I MANUF/SELL/DEL SCHEDULE II CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, POSSESS WITH INTENT TO MANUFACTURE/SELL/DELIVER HEROIN, POSSESS HEROIN, FELONY POSSESSION OF COCAINE, POSSESS CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE PRISON/JAIL PREMISSES. Vorda is currently confined in the Cherokee County Detention Center on a $100,000.00 secure bond. Sheriff Palmer remarked “We appreciate working with our State partners in taking some more drugs off the streets. This was a good sized seizure that will make a dent in the local drug traffic.
