Obituaries

Mr. Victor (Vic) H. Schott age 86 of Murphy, NC., formerly of Santeetlah, NC and Tequesta, FL passed away on Monday February 13, 2017 at his home following an extended illness.

Surviving Mr. Schott are his wife, Patricia Ann Schott, the love of his life for sixty three years, one daughter, Carol Parker and her husband John of Adelanta, TX., sons, Kenn and his wife Cary of Ft. Pierce, FL., Donald if McMinnville, TN., and David and his wife Pam of Jupiter, FL., four grandchildren and five great grandchildren, one brother, Ron and his wife Betty of Troy, NY., and sister in law, Joan of Saratoga Springs, NY., several nieces and nephews also survive.

Victor was preceded in death by his brother, Russ, his step sister, Gertrude and his parents, Hans and Dora Schott all of Troy, NY. Vic was born and raised in Troy and graduated from Lansingburgh High School. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Wittenberg University in Springfield, OH and his Master of Science Degree from the University of Florida. He was an army veteran stationed at Fort Campbell, KY at the close of the Korean War. Upon his discharge he and his wife and daughter, Carol, moved to West Palm Beach, FL., where he was employed by the Palm Beach County School System as a teacher/coach. He was the first football coach at Jupiter, FL. High School. He retired in 1990 after serving nineteen years as Principal of North Palm Beach Elementary School. He also served as Principal of Jupiter Elementary School and Greenacres Elementary School. Prior to the Principalships he served ten years as a teacher, coach and assistant principal at the Jupiter School. He was an active volunteer in local school systems and an active member of the Shepherd of the Mountain Church in Murphy.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Shepherd of the Mountains Church, 68 Fairfax Drive Murphy, NC. 28906 in Vic’s memory.
