Leonard Amos, age 68, of Murphy, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018 in a Murphy care facility. He was a native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County. He attended Murphy High School. Leonard worked for many years as a stock clerk at both Ingles and Walmart. He was a member of Grape Creek Baptist Church. Leonard enjoyed working outside in his garden and helping others in need.

He was the son of the late Claude and Ruby Hughes Amos. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Samuel; a sister, Linda Amos; and two brothers, Floyd and Walter Amos.

Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Kay Amos; a daughter, Michelle Amos of Murphy; a son, Marc Amos of Canton, North Carolina; two step-daughters, Sharon Vespasian and Laurie Radford, both of Murphy; a sister, Lucille Amos of Murphy; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Rev. Steve West officiating. Music was provided by Steve Coleman and Grape Creek Baptist Choir. The interment was in Grape Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeremiah Barnard, William Vespasian III, Keith and Mark Johnson, and Dewayne and Eric Hogsed.

The family received friends from 12-1:45 Tuesday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.
