Dogs Take Season Series From Andrews

Murphy High, Sports, Team FYN Sports

The Murphy Bulldogs finally were able to play their 2nd game of the season against Andrews and it was a good one for the Dogs, as they run ruled Andrews thanks to Jesse Kepharts 4 hit day.

The Dogs bats were hot from the start, as Kellen Rumfelt and Briggs Cornwell doubled in the first inning and Murphy took a 4-1 lead. Besides hitting doubles, Kellen Rumfelt started and allow 0 hits and 1 run over 3 innings. Dawson Hensley came on in relief out of the bullpen and threw 2 innings of scoreless baseball. It was prety easy for these guys to throw the ball with the stellar defense they got from the boys behind them as the Dogs did not commint an error all day, which is a lot to ask from a team with 0 starting seniors.

The Dogs racked up 11 total hits on the day which matched their 11 runs. Kephart and Cornwell each collected multiple hits. Kephart was 4-4 at the plate on the day.
