Big Win For Dogs on Senior Night

Murphy High, Sports, Team FYN Sports

The Bulldogs defeated the Swain County Maroon Devils on Thursday, 13-5.

The 13-5 score does not tell the whole story of the game, as things were a lot closer than the 8 runs would make it seem. The Dogs trailed 5-4 in the bottom of the 5th inning when Jesse Kephart ground into a fielders choice that ended up scoring 2 runs and allowed the Dogs to take the lead.

Swain got on the board first as they scored 3 runs in the 1st. Call and Lossiah both knocked in runs for the Devils.

Kellen Rumfelt got the W for the Dogs on the mound. He gave up 5 runs on 4 hits over 5 innings while striking out 6. Dawson Hensley threw 2 innings in relief out of the bullpen for the Dogs. Hensley was able to come in and record the last out and earn the save.

Braden Rumfelt was 2-4 at the plate to lead Murphy in hits.

It was also senior night for the 3 seniors on the Murphy team. Elijah Davis, Josh Ott and Lucas Barolet all were honored on Thursday night.
