Hurlburt-Johnson House Cold Night Shelter Open Dec. 1-6

Cold Night Shelter

The Hurlburt-Johnson Friendship House has declared December 1 through Wednesday night, December 6, as “Cold Purple” / Cold Night Shelter.

Temperatures are expected to reach down 32 degrees or below, which makes it extremely dangerous for folks to be sleeping out in the cold.

Folks have the opportunity to take cover if needed at the Friendship House Shelter at 73 Blumenthal St., Murphy.

If you are in need of shelter please arrive at the shelter between 4:30 PM and 9:00 PM.

If for some reason you cannot get there before 9:00 PM you can check in with the Cherokee Co Sheriff’s Dept. or at the Murphy Police Station where you will be accompanied to the shelter.

Those staying overnight can expect a clean environment in a dormitory type of setting. Breakfast is available before folks leave the following morning.

If you have any questions please call 828-837-2654.

The usual shelter screenings are not completed for the Cold Night Shelter.
