Devonte Murray Says Being a Bulldog is value to carry him through his time at Brevard College

(Brevard) – – Former Murphy standout and two-time state champion Devonte Murray is finishing up his college football career a Brevard College.  There is still some football to be played for Murray as a Tornado, with one game left in the regular season.  Saturday’s (November 4) game is the last home game on the schedule and is Senior Day.

Devonte is making the best for his final season in football.  He has seen action in five games to get 156 yards of rushing offense and his first career touchdown this season in the game against Warner.  Murray carried the ball 12 times for 43 yards in that game.  He recovered from a leg injury that sidelined him for two games and is back on the field getting a few touches to help the Tornados swirl through the rest of the season with hopes of a playoff appearance.  During his junior season, Murray played in 10 games and rushed 45 times for189 yards.  He had 54 carries during his sophomore season for 309 yards.  Murray has been very productive for the times he gets into the game for Brevard College to move the ball to good field position according to his coaches.

Criminal Justice is Devonte’s major.  He will graduate in the spring.  During the Spring, he completed an internship with the North Carolina Probation/Parole program.  He has dominated in the classroom being a three-time honor roll student as well as a student leader in the Black Student Union and Justice Club.  His best football memory was playing the triple overtime win over Maryville College.  Devonte’s family (Jennie Mosley – Mother, Deontaye Murray – Brother, and Jada McClure – Girlfriend) were on hand to take in the Senior Day Game against Huntingdon College Hawks.

Brevard College Football

Brevard College is in a battle for an appearance in the playoffs.  The Tornados lost on Saturday to the Huntingdon Hawks 31-to-27.  This loss creates a very difficult scenario to get into the playoffs.  Devonte spoke with us after the game and gave a very inspirational testimonial about learning from time at Murphy High School as a Bulldog and the experience gained at Brevard College.
