Murphy, NC- Senior big-man Dominick Rummler eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career last night in the Bulldog’s first-round 80-44 playoff victory over Sugar Creek Charter School.

Rummler said in a postgame interview that accomplishing this milestone was something that he always wanted, but not at the expense of his team and winning games:

“All year I’ve been striving for it, but I didn’t want it to get in the way of the team win. I didn’t want to go out and try to drop 50 points just to hit one thousand for my career, I just wanted to come out here and win as a team.”

Team basketball is what has the Dogs hosting a home round two playoff game on Friday, as 12 different Bulldogs saw playing time last night vs Sugar Creek. Seven of those twelve were able to get at least one bucket, with Dom Rummler and Will Joyner leading the way scoring 21 and 18 points respectively.

Up next for Murphy will be a home contest vs Christ The King on Friday evening. Number 27-seeded Christ The King upset the number 6-seeded Cherokee Braves in round one, giving the Dogs one more chance to play at home.
