Wanted woman found and arrested

PRESS RELEASE – On the afternoon of January 26, 2023 the Cherokee Indian Police Department’s Community Response Team obtained information that a wanted person was at a residence on Stillwell Branch Road, in the Yellowhill Community of the Qualla Boundary.

After responding to the residence, officers determined that Tansi Elaine Young, a wanted 42 year-old female of Cherokee, was inside the residence.

During the arrest, drugs were observed in plain view, and a consent search of the residence produced the following:
12.7 grams of Fentanyl
11.9 grams of Methamphetamine
11.5 grams of Psilocybin Mushrooms

Young was arrested and served with her active warrants.

Travis Lee Calhoun a 41 year-old male of Cherokee was charged with the following:

Two counts of Possession with intent to sell/deliver Schedule II (meth and fentanyl)
Possession with intent to sell/deliver Schedule I
(psilocybin mushrooms)
