Rev. Rickey Young Carter, age 67 of Murphy, passed away August 16, 2015 at Murphy Medical Center. Mr. Carter was born July 6, 1948 in Copperhill, TN to the late Robert Young Carter and the late Ruth Hughes Carter. He was preceded in death by his parents. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved people and was a Pastor in the area for over 20 years.
Survivors include: wife, Brenda Jean Ware Carter, son, Brent (Lori) Carter, grandson, Kacey Carter, grandson, Kevin Carter, sister, Loretta Henry, brother, William Carter, mother-in-law, Kate Ware, sister-in-law, Gilita Carter, several aunts and uncles and special friends, Pat Whyte and Sarah Pickle
Funeral services: Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Mt Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Ware, Rev. Keith Blalock and Rev. Jack Buchanan officiating. Music by: Keith & Christa Ware. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers: Chase Bolling, Jax Carroll, Hunter Shope, Josh Rhodes, Tyler Taylor, Lucas Kilpatrick, Jeffery Kimbrell and Colten Davis. Honorary pallbearers: Michael Taylor, Brian Carter, Max Ware, Gene Ware, Earl Ware, Gary Anderson, Jim Worsham, Tommy Bell, James Shope, Roy Truelove, Lyn Shields, Andy Ware, Daanny Phillips, Charles Brown, W.C. Collins, Calvin Shields, Jerry Kilpatrick, Eric Carter, Barry Carter and Doley Howard.
The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Tuesday, August 18, 2015, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
