Maxine Younce Hyde, 85, of Aquone passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2015. She was a native of Gaston County, North Carolina, but lived in Macon County her entire life. She had worked for over 20 years as a nurse at Angel Medical Center in Franklin. Maxine had also worked for Macon County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Forest Service. She served on the Nantahala School Board. She was of the Baptist faith. Maxine enjoyed painting and crocheting.

She was the daughter of the late Fletcher and Mamie Wilson Younce.

Surviving are two daughters, Loretta Raven Hyde of Hayesville and Lora Jean Woods and husband, Bart of Marion, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Hope Garrett and Robert Garrett and wife, Shanna, all of Marble; and a great grandchild, Jesse Garrett.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 PM Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews.

The inurnment will be at a later date in Aquone Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Maxine Younce Hyde to the Lupus Foundation of America, North Carolina Chapter, 4530 Park Road, Suite 302, Charlotte, NC 28209.
