Frederick Dalrymple Jr: Obituary

Frederick Dalrymple Jr. passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home following a brief illness. He was 81.
Frederick was a Cherokee County native and lifelong resident. He was a son of the late Fred Franklin and Cassie Irene Hatchett Dalrymple. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Frank, their wives and some of their children.
After playing football during his high school years at Murphy, Fred worked a brief stint for the Atlanta, GA division of the Hitchcock Corporation followed by a two year enlistment in the US Navy. During the rest of his adult working career he worked at Hitchcock Corp, Murphy, C.W. Matthews, Suzarite and Cherokee County as a bus driver. Additionally he was a substitute rural mail carrier and worked with his father and brothers and other family members for many years in logging and sawmilling.
Fred spent many years as a member of the Good Neighbors Auto Club and he really loved participating in various Christmas parades around the area. His last big engagement was the period of time he spent on the Cherokee County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. He also loved welding, the restoration of old cars and working the gardens and fields around the community with his tractor.
In addition to loving his church, Notla Baptist, Fred loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ruth Logan; four children: Dean of Asheville, Janine Plemmons and husband Ron of the Bellview Community, Ilisse Hooper and husband Craig of Hayesville and Eric and wife Sarah of Mocksville. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Brooke Smith, Shea Plemmons, Dustin Hooper, (Karleigh) Elizabeth Dalrymple, Frederick (Dodge) Logan Dalrymple, William (Weston) Watson Dalrymple, (Saige) Lela Ruth Dalrymple and two great grandchildren: Emma Gracelynn Smith and Mason Matthew Smith.
Funeral Services will be at 7 PM, Monday, September 14th at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Pastor Joseph Simonds and Rev. Ned Golden will officiate. The Eulogy will be given by Eugene Morrow. Burial will be in the Bellview Community Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the V.F.W. Post #10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post #96 and D.A.V. Chapter #73 and American Legion Post #532 of Hayesville and V.F.W. Post #6812 Hayesville. Pallbearers will include Craig Hooper, Ron Plemmons, Matt Smith, Dustin Hooper, Eugene Morrow, Jerry Dalrymple, Charles (Zero) Stiles, Benny Dalrymple, Johnny Anderson and Buster Rogers.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM, Monday, September 14th at Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy.
