Billie Carl Harris age, 65, of Andrews, NC passed away Monday, September 28, 2015 at his residence.
He was born in Clanton, Alabama and the son of Helen Price Harris of Wetumpka, Alabama and the late Burton Silas Harris. Billie attended Montgomery Alabama public schools and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He was a US Army veteran; served from 1971-1975, SP5, Signal BN. Billie retired after 20 years as a textile manager with Coats America in 2006. After retirement he continued to work part-time with KIA, Murphy Medical Center, Wal-Marts and Employment Security Commission. Billie was of the Methodist faith.
Billie was the best father, husband, son, brother, grandfather, friend, and father-in-law to all of us. He was a lifelong University of Alabama football fan – ROLL TIDE! He will be missed by all of us who had the joy of knowing and loving him and by those us who loved him.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Johnny Harris.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ronnie Harris; one son, Erik Harris and wife Leighann of Warne, NC; one daughter, Nichol Harris Curtis and husband Kevin of Murphy, NC; grandchildren, Christopher Evan, Casey Braydon Harris and Brody Oliver Curtis; four sisters, Brenda Mosley and husband John of Wetumpka, Alabama, Mary Jane Timms and husband Bob of Roswell, Georgia, Diane Harris and husband Cecil of Frankfort, Germany and Marie Lincoln and husband Chris of Wetumpka, Alabama; one brother, Jimmy Harris and wife Anita of Montgomery, Alabama; one sister-in-law, Lynn Harris; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Rev. Ronnie Palmer will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with military graveside rites conducted by the V.F.W. Post #10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post #96 and D.A.V. Chapter #73 and American Legion Post #532 of Hayesville and V.F.W. Post #6812 Hayesville. Pallbearers will be Mark Rowe, Ronald Luther, Bob Deakins, Mike Casey, Kevin Curtis, Eddie Cross, John Toole and Jack Lewis.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home.
