Grady Chambers, age 83, of Fayetteville, NC and formerly of Murphy passed away Monday, January 4, 2016 in Dunn, NC.

Mr. Chambers was a native of Cherokee County and a son of the late Bedford F. and Florence Belle Garrett Chambers. Grady retired from the US Army after 30 years of service, continued to serve in the ready reserve of the NC National Guard and also retired as an inspector for the US Postal Service.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Ashley, four brothers: Charlie Chambers, Fred Chambers, Earl Chambers and Edward C. Chambers, two sisters, Laura Mae Carroll and Delilah Hulsey and a stepson, Kenneth E. Pound.

Grady is survived by one son, Grady Earl Chambers of Linden, NC and one daughter, Priscilla Mae Lindbom also of Linden, six grandsons and 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Also surviving is one sister, Priscilla Guffey of Andrews, NC and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be at 2 PM, Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy NC. Rev. Calvin Bobo will officiate. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Grady Earl Chambers, Zachery Chambers, Mitchell Lindbom, Joseph Lindbom, Matthew Lindbom and Ethan Johnson will serve as pallbearers. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post #10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post #96 and D.A.V. Chapter #73 and American Legion Post #532 of Hayesville and V.F.W. Post #6812 Hayesville.

The family will receive friends 1-2 PM, Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy.
