Clara Lane Hargis, 75, of Murphy passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016 in a Chattanooga, Tennessee hospital. She was a native of Lockland, Ohio, but had been living in Cherokee County for the past 13 years. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Red Hats Society and was active with the Hiwassee Dam Seniors.

She was the daughter of the late Oscar Herman and Lucy Jane Richards Whiteaker.

Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Walker L. Hargis; two daughters, Sherry Hargis and Rebecca Hargis, both of Tampa, Florida; two sons, Michael Hargis and Chad Hargis, both of Tampa, Florida; and four grandchildren, Colin Hargis, Josef Hargis, Marlee Hargis, and Taylor Hargis.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
