Arthur “Bud” Stiffler, Jr., age 78, of Marble, died Friday, October 7, 2016 in Murphy Medical Center. He was a native of Commodore, Pennsylvania, but had lived in Cleveland, Ohio and Sarasota, Florida before moving to Cherokee County in 1999.  Bud was a carpenter, and worked as a reserve officer with the Sarasota, Florida Police Department for fifteen years.  After moving here, he worked as a custodian with the Cherokee County School System. Bud was a member of Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church.

He was the son of the late Arthur and Margaret Guidash Stiffler.

Surviving are his wife of fifty-six years, Marsha L. Theis Stiffler; a son, John Michael Stiffler and wife, Wanda of Sarasota, Florida; four daughters, Robin Lynn Grubbs and husband, Keith of St. Louis, Missouri; Dawn Ann Brazier and husband, David of Castle Rock, Colorado; Kelly Denise Meyer of Sarasota, Florida; and Teri Lee Ryan and husband, Allen of Augusta, Georgia; a brother, Rev.(R) Lester Wayne “Sonny” Stiffler and wife, Mildred of Altoona, Pennsylvania; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Private family services are planned.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Arthur Stiffler, Jr. to: Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 1650 NC Hwy 141, Murphy, NC  28906.
