Day 3 Game 1 Men : Hayesville (NC) 53 Polk County (TN) 43

 

(Hiawassee, GA) – – There is no antiseptic the Polk County Wildcats could find to take out the sting from a Hayesville Yellow Jacket outside shot posted by Logan Caldwell.  For Hayesville this morning’s game was the ointment it needed to take the pain away from the nail-biting, last minute battles it had this week at the Battle of the States Basketball tournament losing both of its games in the last few seconds.  Hayesville Yellow Jackets nested up a 53-to-43 win over the Polk County Wildcats.  The game was a bit close at the halftime with Hayesville leading 29-to23.  Yellow Jacket Senior Guard Logan Caldwell put on a 3-Point Jump Shot clinic to keep the Hayesville lead.  Caldwell hit five 3-Pointers in his 23-point scoring morning, which was the leading tally for all players.  Polk County’s Tucker Patterson led the Wildcats with 14 points.  Caldwell and Patterson are the All-Tournament player selections from Hayesville and Polk County.  Hayesville Coach Michael Cottrell says he was pleased with the team play and how this preps the Yellow Jackets for the coming week’s schedule with Robbinsville (January 3^rd at Home) and Hiawassee Dam (January 6^th at Home).
