Robbinsville, NC- Offense has not been a problem for the Bulldogs this year, as they’ve plated an average of 7 runs through the first 6 games of this young season. The same rang true last night, as they traveled to Robbinsville and defeated the Black Knights 15-2.

The Black Knights actually jumped out to an early 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but that didn’t last long as the Dogs rattled off 4 runs in the second inning and never looked back.

Isaiah Temple and Brayden Rumfelt had big nights at the plate for Murphy. Temple was 2 for 3 at the plate with a double and 4 runs batted in, while Rumfelt also drove in multiple runs (3).

Cole Laney started the game for Murphy, before being relieved by Isaac Cole and Briggs Cornwell. All three combined to only allow 2 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 8 Robbinsville batters.

Murphy will host Copper Basin on Thursday and Robbinsville on Friday to finish out the week, while Robbinsville will travel to Hayesville on Thursday before ending their week in Murphy.

As of 3.23.22, the Smoky Mountain Conference baseball standings look like this:
