Delmont Gerald Light, age 86, of Marble, NC passed away Saturday, June 15, 2019 at his residence.
He was the son of the late Earl Sylvestor Light and Hattie Mae Hartung Light. Delmont was an active member of St. Williams Catholic Church for many years. He was a past Eucharistic Minister and an Usher. Delmont was also a Board member Representative for Desoto Square. He was a loving husband and father. Delmont was a US Army veteran.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rosemary Light; two sons, Jeffery Light of Edison, New Jersey and Donald Light of Pottsville, Arkansas; two daughters, Linda Light of Glen Gardner, New Jersey and Susan Foti of Bridgewater, New Jersey; one sister, June; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am, Friday, June 28, 2019 at the St. Williams Catholic Church. Deacon Carl will officiate.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent in memory of Delmont Light to the St. Williams Catholic Church, 765 Andrews Road, Murphy, NC 28906.

Dallas Patterson, age 84 of Covington, GA and formerly of Murphy passed away Friday, June 21, 2019 in Covington, GA.
Dallas was a native of Cherokee, County NC. He was a son of the late Robert and Zana Shackleford Patterson. He had attended Unaka Baptist Church before moving to Loganville, GA in the 70’s. Dallas loved the outdoors and riding horses.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Dale, Winford, Rual, Kenneth, Troy, Robert Jr. and Harold Patterson; and sisters, June Maney, Violet Stiles and Bernice Palmer.
Surviving are his sons, Dennis Patterson, Ricky Patterson and William Patterson; brother, Melvin Patterson; sisters, Geraldine Lewis and Linda Johnson; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12 pm, Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Pastor Justin Adam will officiate. Burial will be at Unaka Baptist Church Cemetery.

Irene “Cricket” Grindstaff, age 95 of Andrews, NC passed away Monday, June 24, 2019.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, NC and the daughter of the late Jess Porter and Anna Drake Collett. “Cricket” loved to work in her flowers and enjoyed sewing, cooking and canning.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Gene, Cecil and Garry Collett and Odell Roper.
She is survived by one son, Dexter Grindstaff and wife Lindy of Canton, GA; one daughter, Shela Seay and husband John of Andrews; two brothers, Ned Collett of Andrews and Joe Collett of Jonesboro, GA; two sisters, Fern Pritchett of Ellijay, GA and Maxine Gragg of Candler, NC; four grandchildren, Travis, Matthew, Megan and Jacob; two great-grandchildren, Zoe and Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the Valleytown Baptist Church. Pastor Eric Byrd, Rev. Marlon Blaylock will officiate. An eulogy will be given by John Cook. Burial will be in the Valleytown Cemetery in Andrews. Pallbearers will be Walter Raxter, Larry Rogers, Larry Dailey, Philip Hodge, Steve Johnson and Bobby Grindstaff.
The family will receive friends from 12 pm to 1:45 pm, Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the Valleytown Baptist Church.

Ruby L. Pace, age 91 of Marble, NC, born April 18, 1928 went home to be with Jesus and loved ones gone before on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN.
Ruby was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County and the daughter of the late Dovie Sharp Payne. She was a seamstress in the clothing manufacturing.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Glenn Noah Pace in 1993; and one great-grandchild, Leah Brown, and many other family and friends.
She is survived by five children, Mary Ruth Palmer, Helen Baliles, Marvin Pace (Melinda), Martha Fullbright (Dale) and Robert Pace (Maxine); six grandchildren, Monica Pace, Derrick Ledford, Cheri Collier, Eric Pace, Colleen Fowler(Jeff) and Jamie Bateman; and eight great-grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler and Haley Ledford, Jacob and Jessie Ann Brown, Brennon Collier, Autumn and Sara Beth Fowler and Lakelyn Gann.

Robert “Claude” Stiles, age 82 of Murphy, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2019 at his residence.
Claude was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County. He was a son of the late McKinley and Minnie Hedrick Stiles. Claude was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and the Montgomery Masonic Lodge #426. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Regina Stiles; infant brother; son, Donnie J. Stiles; brothers, Warren, Herman, Homer and Jack Stiles; and sisters, Norma Nix, Vaude King, May Roberts and Oma Taylor.
Surviving are his son, Lonnie G. Stiles of Murphy; daughter, Jeanette Loudermilk and husband Russell of Murphy; sisters, Eunice Johnson and Barbara Anderson; six granddaughters, Michelle Hayes and husband Hank, Amy Brendle and husband Matt, Billie Joe Stiles, Nicole Hunt and husband Bill, Brittany Barnes and husband Greg and Savannah Ware and husband Barrett; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; several nieces and nephews; daughter-in-law, Vicky Stiles Jenkins and special friend Winnie Galloway.

She was a native of Hiawatha, Kansas and the daughter of the late James Mylon Denison and Rosalie Maxine Kline Denison of Andrews, NC. KathyJo was the former owner and operator of Ropers Store. They moved from Columbia, SC to the Andrews area in 1987. KathyJo was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her father she was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Joe Crawford and Robert Dewight Martin.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Ray Roper; two sons, Justin Christopher Horton and his wife Tiffany and Daniel Lee Vaughn and his wife Cortny all of Andrews; a brother, Henry Bruce Denison of Shreveport, LA: two sisters, Jackie Rene Mills of Rockledge, FL and Tookea Trudy Mane Lynn of Morrill, KS; and one grandson, James Edward Tate Horton; and granddaughter, Kathrina Joetta Horton.

Marlene Morrow, age 88 of Murphy passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Murphy Rehab and Nursing. She was the daughter of the late Issac Abraham Russell and Maude Ann Downey Russell. Marlene was a member of Second Baptist Church of Murphy and a member of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Morrow; nine brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by her son, Ray Morrow; daughters, Ealane Cole and husband Sonny, Wanda Scroggs and Sheila Walls and husband Larry; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Rev. Calvin Murphy and Rev. Jerry Morrow will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Harley “Ervin” Golden, age 90 of Murphy, NC passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the Life Care Center in Ducktown, TN.
He was born on August 20, 1928 in Cherokee County, NC to the late Dr. Thomas M. Golden and Bessie Mundy Golden Amburn. Ervin was an avid outdoors person. He loved to hunt in his younger days. Ervin spent his entire life in the timber business and was a hard worker. When he retired from the timber business he enjoyed gardening. Ervin was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church; and he and Christine served as church janitors for many years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Townsend Golden; one son, Tommy Golden; brothers, Mitchell, Otto and Eddie Golden and sisters, Esma Viitala, Mae Vance, Mary Bailey and Helen Kearley.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Ware and husband Etheridge of Mineral Bluff, GA and Ann Price and husband Paul of Hayesville; one son, Tim Golden and wife Mary of Murphy; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Desma Upton of Michigan and two brothers, Johnny Golden of Murphy and Curt Golden of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm, Friday, June 21, 2019 at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. Rev. Ronnie Crisp will officiate. Music will be provided by Selina Davis and the Golden Family. He was born in Madison County, NC to the late Oscar Harold Annis and Lorene McDaris Ricker. James was a US Navy veteran. He worked for Southern Railroad. James enjoyed watching Westerns, fishing and shooting guns. He was a member of South End Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Deborah Annis and one granddaughter, Misty.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Annis; two sons, James Harold Annis, Jr. and wife Melinda and Harold Landon Annis and wife Summer; one daughter, Melissa Yonce and husband James; one step-brother, Joseph Ricker, Jr; six grandchildren, Ryan, Shay, Kellie, Savanna, Joseph and Jadeyn.

Patricia Wright Patterson, 73, of Murphy, passed away Friday, August 16, 2019, surrounded by family at her daughter’s home in Cartersville, Georgia. She was a native of Cherokee County and had lived in Marietta, Georgia, Palmdale, California, and Iran before returning to Hiwassee Dam in 1996. She had worked as an operator for Southern Bell, a sales associate at Southern Linen, and for Foster’s Doughnuts in Palmdale. Her favorite job was being a homemaker to her family. She was a devoted member of Murphy Bible Church. Pat loved spending time at church and studying the Bible. Pat passed on her skills and love of making biscuits to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a talent for making everyone feel as if they were her favorite.
She was the daughter of the late Calvin Elmo and Versie Helton Wright and wife of the late Robert M. Patterson, who died March 22, 2019. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael Wright; and a sister-in-law, Judy Allen Wright.
Surviving are two daughters, Pamela Timbs and husband, Jeff of Cartersville, Georgia and Penny Garrison and husband, Billy of Winston, Georgia; a son, Paul Patterson of Murphy; a brother, Rex Wright and wife, Charlotte of Murphy; nine grandchildren, Heather, Ryan, Haleigh, Breanna, Paul, Pierce, Zachary, Caleb, and Caitlyn; seven great-grandchildren, Savannah, Eli, Sophia, Ava, Susana, Malachi, and Catalina. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Ware and Rev. Keith Allison officiating. The interment will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darryl Wright, Adam Wright, Roger Campbell, Mark Patterson, Randy Patterson, and Thomas Wright. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Wright, Joey Reid, and Harold Helton.

She was born in Chicago, Illinois and was the daughter of the late Albert and Alice McNally Diederich. Darlene retired from MGM Brakes.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Schorik.
She is survived by three sons, Richard Schorik and Rose Edwards, Gary Starnes and Angela Beaver and Dale Schorik; one brother, William Diederich; one sister, Maryann Fiorelli; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
